Big Ten Football: 3 impactful transfers to know in 2023
One of Michigan’s biggest transfers is incoming edge rusher Josaiah Stewart who has drawn comparisons to former Michigan standout Josh Uche, who led the Wolverines in sacks in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
The former Coastal Carolina edge rusher had 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles last season. A little undersized at 6-foot-1, the Bronx, N.Y., native will look to contribute to an already stout Michigan defense, but there’s a good chance he might just be the best of them all.
The NCAA rule that allows transfers to play right away is by far the best thing to happen to student-athletes even before the NIL deals, simply because, let’s be honest, not every player is in a position to succeed in landing a deal.
The student-athletes at Division 1AA, Division 2, and Division 3 aren’t getting paid at all. The rules allow for them to transfer to a bigger school where there’s more media attention on them, more money to be given to them, and a better opportunity to make an impact.
