San Diego State vs. Ohio: TV Channel, live stream, odds, injuries, weather, series history
By Josh Hill
After a long winter and spring, college football is officially back.
Week 0 marks the kickoff of a new season, and seven games are on the docket to help usher things in. Saturday will quite literally start in another world for college football fans, as Navy and Notre Dame will get the season started over in Ireland.
Six other games will follow, with perhaps the best game taking place stateside out west in California.
San Diego State watched its men’s basketball team march all the way to the National Championship Game, but it’s the team visiting from out east that could play spoiler in the College Football Playoff picture.
The Ohio Bobcats are bringing back almost all of their core starters from last year, and are coming off a season where they finished as runners-up in the MAC. Kurtis Rourke and company are going to be up against a stingy Aztecs defense and a weird offense that clicked in all of the funniest ways in the second half of last season.
Jalen Mayden, who was a defensive back at the start of the year, became the Aztecs starting quarterback — and it worked.
That’s what we’re dealing with in this matchup, and it could end up being the best game of the weekend and certainly the best being played on American soil.

Fans will have to wait until next Saturday for the first Big Noon Kickoff of the year that is followed by a game on FOX, but FS1 is getting a head start on the year and will be broadcasting SDSU-Ohio on Saturday night.
It’s sort of a gift for FS1, as it’s getting what could end up being the best matchup of Week 0.

San Diego State vs. Ohio weather report (Updated August 24th)
While the rest of the country navigates record-high heat, things will be pretty cool in SoCal on Saturday.
A bit fitting, isn’t it?
Temperatures at kickoff are expected to be in the mid-70s, with no rain or nasty weather in the forecast. It’s going to be near-perfect conditions to kick the season off in San Diego, and you couldn’t ask for much more.
San Diego State vs. Ohio series history
Saturday will mark just the second time that the Aztecs and Bobcats have met, and it will be the first time doing so in the regular season.
The last meeting between the two teams took place back in 2018, with Ohio emerging victorious in the DXL Frisco Bowl. It wasn’t much of a contest, with the Bobcats absolutely destroying the Aztecs 27-0, making it the second straight season that ended with a bowl game win.
Not only that, but the Bobcats went on a bit of a tear in 2017-2018. Ohio defeated UAB 41-6 in the Bahamas Bowl the year prior, which means the Bobcats outscored their opponents 68-6 over the course of two bowl appearances.
That’s insane.
Things might be a little different on Saturday, but the fact that the Bobcats are bringing back most of a team that almost won the MAC last year seems to indicate San Diego State might be in trouble — again.
