Saturday’s USC vs. San Jose State game will be one of two matchups in Week 0 that featured a ranked team. The Trojans begin the 2023 season ranked in the top 10.

USC is expected to be a legit playoff threat this season after going 11-3 in 2022 and just missing the field. Caleb Williams is back after winning the Heisman Trophy and he’ll have plenty of weapons around him. The defense is the only area of concern as Alex Grinch may be coaching for his job this season after his unit finished 105th in total yards allowed in 2022.

San Jose State, on the other hand, is not expected to be all that special this season. The Spartans went 7-5 last season and had a solid defense, but that unit brings back just four starters. Offensively, San Jose State threw the ball well, but that’s about it.

I would expect USC to win this one handily.
