Can Alabama football contend for the SEC and the Playoff?
By Dante Pryor
Who starts at quarterback for Alabama football?
There are two leaders for the starting job at Alabama, Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson. Whoever takes the job must find the alpha in the wide receiver room. After having the likes of Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley, Jaylen Waddle, and DeVonta Smith, the Crimson Tide did not have any dynamic playmakers at receiver last year.
Running back Jaymir Gibbs led the Tide in receiving last year. Georgia transfer Jermaine Burton spent most of 2022 injured but led the team in receiving yards. Alabama returns three of its leading wide receivers in 2023 as well.
That said, the offensive line is the strength of the offense. JC Latham has a chance to be a top-five pick. The running back room is loaded, despite Gibbs being in the NFL. The running back room is five deep, including blue chip freshmen Justice Haynes and Richard Young.
Suffice it to say that the offense will look slightly different than in 2022. Expect Rees to take advantage of the offensive line and talent at running back. Jalen Milroe makes a lot of sense if they decide to run the football a lot.
