Beating Navy by three-plus touchdowns in Ireland has become somewhat of a tradition for Notre Dame football. Saturday’s 42-3 win over the Midshipmen became the third for Notre Dame by at least 27 points over Navy in Ireland over the years.

Sam Hartman got his first action with the Irish and Marcus Freeman picked up his first season-opening win with Notre Dame.

With the season-opener in the books, let’s dive into some hot takes.

3. Jaden Greathouse is Notre Dame’s next great wideout

I know I get it, it was just Navy, but Jaden Greathouse had a whale of a first-ever college football performance. He finished with three catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns, leading all receivers on Saturday afternoon in Ireland.

Oh, and did I mention it was his first college football game? I can’t say it enough.

Greathouse didn’t look to be rattled by the bright lights or improved competition compared to his high school days and he became Sam Hartman’s favorite target early on. Although he caught just three passes, he was open on numerous occasions and it looks like he could legitimately battle for the No. 1 receiver role with Jayden Thomas, Deion Colzie, and Tobias Merriweather.

If his first game is any indication of what to expect, Greathouse is going to be the next great wide receiver to come through South Bend.
