Notre Dame football: 3 hot takes from blowout win over Navy
1. Sam Hartman is Notre Dame’s best QB since Brady Quinn
Over the years, Notre Dame has had some talented quarterbacks. There have been guys like Jimmy Clausen, Tommy Rees, DeShone Kizer, Brandon Wimbush, and Ian Book. All of those guys had a decent amount of success in South Bend, but I don’t think any of them measure up to Sam Hartman.
Is this a little premature? Maybe, but Hartman has been in college for six seasons now and he’s been one of the most prolific passers in the country for years.
In my opinion, Hartman is the best quarterback that has started for Notre Dame since Brady Quinn back in 2003-06. No, this has nothing to do with my ‘Hartman for Heisman’ campaign that I’m leading, but more so the fact that Joe Montana praised him during the game and said that he brings the juice to the offense.
Hartman had a near-perfect first game with the Irish, passing for 251 yards and four touchdowns on 19-of-23 completions. At one point in the second half, Hartman had more touchdown passes than Navy had passing yards.
This dude is going to be a Notre Dame legend.
