Drake Maye is a popular pick for Heisman winner this season, and there’s no secret as to why that is. He had one of the most prolific passing seasons of any quarterback in the country last season and he’s still so young.

Many believe he could be a future first-round pick and maybe a guy who could be No. 1 overall.

So why not a Heisman Trophy first? He has all the tools and he’s in an offense that caters to his strengths. And he has ideal size at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds. He’s not just an NFL prototype at quarterback but he’s also just supremely talented.

Maye had a fantastic first year as North Carolina’s starting quarterback in 2022, passing for 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns with just seven picks and a 66 percent completion rate. Not many first-year starters can put up wild numbers like that, but it’s clear that Maye has that it factor.

If you were to look at the experts’ picks for Heisman this season, Caleb Williams would be No. 1 and Maye is probably the consensus No. 2.
