3. Nebraska vs. Northern Illinois on Sept. 16 (W)

The Huskers will be home for the first time against MAC opponent Northern Illinois in early September and the crowd is going to be rabid.

Hopefully, for their sake, Nebraska is at least 1-1. It’s going to be tough to make a bowl game after an 0-2 start.

Rocky Lombardi, who started for Michigan State in a loss to Nebraska at Lincoln Memorial Stadium back in 2018, returns for to start another game.

The Huskies were in the MAC title game two years ago, but the Huskers roll with five-star tackle Branon Baker expected to visit from the 2024 class.

Nebraska vs. Louisiana Tech on Sept. 23 (W)

This is another game that Nebraska football should win with ease. Lousiana Tech has former Boise State starting Hank Bachmeier at quarterback and the Bulldogs should have a decent shot at going bowling.

But they were 3-9 last season for a reason and the talent gap will be too large. Nebraska’s defense continues to shine and it’s a bad day for the former Boise State starter, even if he throws for a bunch of yards in an Air Raid offense.
