The Matt Rhule era of Nebraska football is set to begin on Thursday night as the Cornhuskers kick off the 2023 season as well as Big Ten play in Minnesota.

PJ Fleck and the Gophers present a tough test for Rhule in his first game as head coach of Nebraska as they’re looking like legit Big Ten West contenders. Will the brand-new Cornhusker head coach pick up his first signature win?

Let’s get bold to start the Rhule era.

3. Billy Kemp IV surpasses his 2022 receiving yards total

Transferring in from Virginia after a strong four-year career with the Cavaliers, Billy Kemp IV has some lofty expectations.

The veteran wideout from Richmond, Va., is already a leader on the team and the young receivers look up to him. How will he respond in his first game as a Cornhusker? Well, he’s going to surpass his receiving yards total from the entire 2022 season.

To be fair, Kemp had just 116 yards and no touchdowns on 16 receptions last year which was obviously his least productive season with Virginia, but he’s going to be wildly productive with the Cornhuskers on Thursday, catching 10 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.

Not a bad start to his Nebraska career.
