3. Notre Dame football will score 60-plus points

Let’s not kid ourselves here, Notre Dame should steamroll TSU on Saturday afternoon. The Irish are currently ranked No. 13 in the country according to the AP and Coaches polls. Meanwhile, the Tigers of Tennessee State are a mediocre, FCS side plying its trade in the Ohio Valley Conference.

As such, it’s fair to ask, how many points will the Fighting Irish rack up this weekend?

After seeing Notre Dame cruise to 42 last Saturday against Navy, I fully expect the Irish to reach the 50 points mark. However, I’m not stopping there. I predict that the golden domers will score at least 60 points in this game.

This is a number that the Irish have reached only twice since Lou Holtz’s last season in 1996 when his team hit the mark against Pittsburgh and again the next week against Rutgers. Notre Dame scored 62 points against UMass in 2015 and 66 against New Mexico in 2019. Therefore, it feels like if the Irish are to ever touch the 60-point mark again, it’d be against this Eddie George-led TSU team from the FCS.
