It’s finally that time of the year when we can all wake up at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday mornings and turn on College GameDay for hours before another 12 hours of college football.

We are so back.

With College GameDay returning to our TVs, that means that the celebrity guest picker each week will also make an appearance with the crew.

Ahead of Saturday’s Week 1 College GameDay show, the guest picker has officially been revealed. Does the picker have any ties to North Carolina or South Carolina? Hint: yes.

Who is the Week 1 College GameDay celebrity picker?

The guest picker might be a surprising one but it could have been a celebrity from either fanbase as this game will be played in Charlotte at a neutral location.

The GameDay crew decided to go with Darius Rucker who is a South Carolina fan and attended the school. He’ll be on the set to play a new version of ‘Comin’ To Your City’ before making his celebrity pick at around 11 a.m. ET, according to his Twitter page.

On the surface, this may seem like a random selection for the guest picker, but Rucker is a football fan and went to South Carolina which is where he actually started his band, Hootie & the Blowfish. He met his fellow bandmates while attending South Carolina so the connection is very real.

We all know he’s going to pick the Gamecocks, but it’ll be cool to see him play some music earlier in the show before settling down to make some predictions.

Will the Gamecocks let Rucker down?
