Colorado football: Shedeur Sanders deserves plenty of Heisman hype
What a difference a year makes. Last season, Colorado football would be lucky to score a couple of touchdowns in any game, but the Buffaloes put up 45 points in a road win over the No. 17 team in the country.
What a win for Colorado.
Deion Sanders had his team more than ready and the Buffaloes took down the Horned Frogs of TCU to begin the season 1-0 and in the post-game interview, Prime, Travis Hunter, and Shedeur Sanders oozed confidence. They talked about just how they warned the country that they were coming and the Power Five label didn’t mean much heading into the game coming from an HBCU.
Hunter had himself a Heisman performance, intercepting a pass on defense and catching 11 passes for 119 yards. He played well over 100 total snaps and seemed to get better throughout the game. He just doesn’t get tired.
The same could be said for Sanders at quarterback. He had himself a career game. A true Heisman-worthy performance.
Colorado football’s quarterback needs Heisman hype
I’ll be the first to admit that I thought Sanders was a good quarterback, but I never expected him to put up some NCAA 14 video game numbers against the reigning national runner-up.
Sanders looked poised and confident all afternoon long, completing 38-of-47 passes for 510 yards and four touchdowns. He had a near-perfect performance against one of the better teams in the nation and made it look easy. He even took a shot at the Power Five afterward, saying that this is the most yards he’s ever had in a game in his life and he’s “just from an HBCU.”
It’s just Week 1, but Sanders has made an early case for the Heisman Trophy. I’m buying stock now.
