Michigan football pays corny tribute to suspended Jim Harbaugh (Video)
It was a wild offseason for Michigan football fans. The Wolverines have dealt with a number of storylines, but none was bigger than Jim Harbaugh’s three-game suspension.
Harbaugh did flirt with the NFL again which caused panic within the fanbase, but he decided to stick around for at least one more run at a national title. He came up just short last season, making the playoff before stumbling in the semifinal against TCU.
Expectations heading into the 2023 season are sky-high, however.
But they’ll have to engineer the first three games without Harbaugh who was suspended by the NCAA by four and then the two sides came to an agreement to postpone that and then Michigan self-imposed a suspension for the head coach.
Let me be clear here: Michigan self-imposed a Harbaugh suspension this season. Keep that in mind.
Michigan football lines up in corny tribute formation for Harbaugh
Yet the Wolverines are using “#FreeHarbaugh” as their battle cry and the replacement coaches even lined up in a corny tribute for the suspended head coach.
The Wolverines lined up on their first offensive drive in a single-file formation with four fingers in the air for Harbaugh. I’m honestly not sure what to even think of this other than “that’s incredibly corny and a weird look.”
Look, I get it, the players are using this suspension as self-created motivation for a national title run, but Harbaugh was caught breaking the rules (no, it wasn’t just because of a cheeseburger) and Michigan decided to self-impose a suspension. This is the athletic department’s decision.
I just don’t get the tribute. They’re acting like Harbaugh passed away. He’s just suspended. By his own school. For three cupcake games. Unreal.
