College Football Rankings 2023: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 2
There were a lot of eyes on Happy Valley on Saturday night as Penn State hosted West Virginia while ushering in a new era at quarterback. Drew Allar finally got his first start and he looked unreal.
I think a lot of people felt like Allar was going to be really good, but after hearing James Franklin downplay the fact that he was the QB1, the uncertainty grew. Was he really going to be the next star quarterback of the Nittany Lions? Well, that question was answered on Saturday as he had one of the best games of any Big Ten quarterback.
Allar passed for 325 yards and three touchdowns on 21-of-29 passing and it feels like he’s going to be a problem for the Big Ten for years.
On the ground, the duo of Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton was effective as expected as the two combined for 121 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. To be fair, they didn’t really need to do much as the Nittany Lions moved the ball with ease.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith is a name to watch as he caught four passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns in the win over West Virginia.
Penn State is legit.
