When you think of Kansas football, the first thing that comes to mind is probably mediocrity. Lance Leipold is changing that narrative in Lawrence. He has turned this program around in a couple of short seasons and the 2023 campaign should be his best yet.

But no one will believe that unless he can pull off a win against a Big Ten West contender like Illinois on Friday night.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into some bold predictions for the big game.

3. Jalon Daniels returns, records rushing and passing touchdowns

Lance Leipold revealed this week that star quarterback Jalon Daniels is expected to play for the first time this season against Illinois after missing the opener due to back tightness.

While Jason Bean was really solid in the season-opening win, I think we’re going to see a heavy dose of Daniels, even if he doesn’t start.

Daniels is one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country and he’s going to prove that on Friday night with at least one passing and one rushing touchdown. He’s going to showcase his explosiveness on the ground as well as his prowess through the air. He’ll have Kansas fans believing in Big 12 titles again.

Along with those two touchdowns, Daniels will account for over 250 total yards against the suddenly shaky Illinois defense.
