Every week, College GameDay tries to pick a celebrity tied to the hosting school, and usually, the selection is popular with the home fans.

Ahead of the Week 2 show, a guest picker has been announced for the Alabama vs. Texas edition of College GameDay, and Crimson Tide fans will love it.

When you think of Alabama football, the first name that comes to mind is Nick Saban and then there’s Paul “Bear” Bryant who won six national titles with the Tide and put the program on the map.

After that, the next name that comes to mind for many has to be Joe Namath.

College GameDay selects Joe Namath as the guest picker

The legendary quarterback who started his career with Alabama before getting drafted in the first round of the 1965 NFL Draft played for Bryant and probably has some amazing stories.

He’ll be the guest picker on Saturday morning alongside the likes of Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso. And you know the legendary Alabama gunslinger is going to pick his Tide.

During Namath’s time at Alabama in the early 1960s, he led the Crimson Tide to a 29-4 record and won a national title as the starter. He’s one of the biggest legends to ever grace the field in Tuscaloosa and he’ll be welcomed back with open arms on Saturday afternoon.

“Broadway Joe” is no stranger to the spotlight and you know he’s going to put on a show.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer is probably the best pick the GameDay crew could have made for the celebrity picker. This may be my favorite choice in years.
