Final. 34. 851. 24. 829

In the most anticipated game of this young college football season, Texas football went on the road and pulled the upset over Alabama.

Even more surprising was the fact that Texas nearly went wire-to-wire in this contest. They opened the scoring with a field goal to go up 3-0 late in the first quarter and they never really looked back.

By halftime, Texas led 13-6, holding Alabama to just two field goals in the first 30 minutes.

The third quarter belonged to Alabama, as the Crimson Tide registered a Will Reichard field goal and a 49-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Burton from Jalen Miroe to give Alabama a 16-13 lead.

The Longhorns answered almost immediately, regaining the lead with an Adonai Mitchell touchdown, and then a Jonathan Brooks touchdown less than a minute later.

Amari Niblack caught a touchdown pass from Milroe to bring Alabama back within three, but once again, the Ewers-to-Mitchell connection delivered, and Texas put away Nick Saban and Alabama in Bryant-Denny.

Here’s what we learned.
