Notre Dame Football Lands Massive Commitment from QB Deuce Knight
By Tyler Kruse
The Notre Dame football program continues its hot streak of landing top quarterbacks in the nation as the staff has secured a commitment from talented quarterback Deuce Knight. The lengthy 6’4.5” and 200-pound quarterback out of Mississippi has the size and skill to be one of the best quarterbacks in his class.
Competing with Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and others, Marcus Freeman and this Notre Dame football staff pulled a massive win on the recruiting trail. While well over a year remains until his class signs on the dotted line, Knight is an excellent fit for the team. Quarterback’s Coach Gino Guidulgi is also a massive player in this recruitment and should keep the gas on Deuce throughout his high school career.
The future is bright with Sam Hartman as the starting quarterback for the Irish, with Steve Angeli and Kenny Minchey backing him up. Add to the mix CJ Carr, whom I believe is a 5-star caliber player, and the new commitment by Knight, and you see why the staff is elated moving forward.
Next year could be a trial-by-fire year for the quarterback room as the Irish try to figure out the successor to the Heisman conversation-worthy Hartman. Will it be the guy with the most experience in Angeli? Or one of the young gunslingers takes the crown and runs with it in the offseason. Regardless, adding Deuce to a future room of Angeli, Minchey, and Carr is a small victory for the Irish.
Notre Dame football recruiting continues to be impressive and only looks to continue that trend. As I’ve said before, were they more willing to participate in pay-for-play NIL dealings with high-school players, they may be a top class in the nation year after year. There’s no denying Freeman’s impact and ability to connect with recruits.
Still, this is an enormous victory for the Irish and the future of a position they’ve long struggled to find high-end talent at. Look for Deuce to become a big-time recruiter in the south, too, should he be as locked in as Carr is for his class.
