Colorado football: Is Travis Hunter playing vs. Oregon in Week 4?

It’s been almost a week since Colorado football needed a fourth-quarter comeback to beat Colorado State in Boulder and that game was almost a disaster on many levels.

The Buffaloes almost saw their AP Top 25 ranking and hot start to the 2023 season flushed down the drain at the hands of an in-state rival that was, by all accounts, inferior. Shedeur Sanders’ Heisman campaign also almost took a major hit, but his ability to bounce back in the fourth quarter actually strengthened it.

Also, Travis Hunter was injured on a dirty hit by a Colorado State player.

It was a nightmare scenario as Hunter went out after the hit to the chest and then came back in shortly after only to leave the game for good and then go to the hospital.

Hunter was released from the hospital on Monday.

Will Travis Hunter play against Oregon on Saturday?

Colorado faces its toughest test of the year as it travels to Oregon on Saturday night to face a top-10 Ducks team that might be a legit playoff squad.

Will they do it without Hunter?

Unfortunately, the answer to that is yes. According to Deion Sanders, Hunter is in good spirits and back to being himself after the big hit by Henry Blackburn, but he will miss at least three weeks.

That’s a tough blow for a team that needs some star power to beat Oregon on the road but Shedeur Sanders is going to have to find a new favorite target (he has plenty of options) and the Buffaloes will have to rely on a cornerback-by-committee to replace Hunter.

Fans of Travis Hunter will have to wait until at least October to see him back out there.
