Iowa Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Penn State in Week 4
By Brad Schultz
1. Cade McNamara bounces back
After his worst game as a Hawkeye, Cade McNamara will bounce back under the bright lights at Beaver Stadium. McNamara only completed 9-of-19 passing attempts to go with two costly interceptions that cost Iowa a few points. After battling an injury, it’s clear McNamara is not 100 percent, and he might never get there, but he has proved that he is a major improvement over Spencer Petras thus far.
McNamara is used to playing at Penn State, as he was the starting quarterback for Michigan when they defeated the Nittany Lions 21-17 in 2021. In that game, McNamara threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns, including a go-ahead 47 touchdown pass to Erick All late in the fourth quarter.
Now teammates at Iowa, McNamara and All hope to recreate some of the same magic they had that day. McNamara entered Iowa City in hopes of bringing back some hardware, and the raucous crowd at Beaver Stadium won’t bother him.
Oh, and that 2021 game was also the “White Out” game.
