Purdue football: 3 reasons the Boilermakers will upset Wisconsin

A Friday night Big Ten showdown in West Lafayette will kick off what should be a fun weekend of college football. Wisconsin will travel to take on Purdue football as the Boilermakers are hoping to end their rough start to the season.

It’s been a mixed bag so far for Ryan Walters and Co. Purdue opened with a devastating loss to Fresno State at home before going to Virginia Tech to notch a big win. The Boilermakers then came home and lost to Syracuse. It’s hard to truly get a read on this team.

While this team has been a mystery so far, I believe they’re going to shock Wisconsin on Friday night.

And here’s why.

3. This is a prime “Spoilermakers” game

Wisconsin has had one road game this season against a then-unranked team, going to Pullman to face Washington State. The Badgers came up short, 31-22, and fell out of the rankings after the loss. They didn’t look like they were really in the game from the get-go. Things got close in the third quarter, but Washington State held on.

While Purdue doesn’t have a Cameron Ward, Hudson Card isn’t exactly a scrub at quarterback. He’s going to have himself a game.

The Badgers are 0-1 on the road during the Luke Fickell era and while this game won’t be quite as tough as the Washington State matchup with Ward under center, West Lafayette is one of the toughest places to play.

Purdue is nicknamed the “Spoilermakers” for a reason.
