This afternoon’s ACC matchup between rivals No. 4 Florida State football and the Clemson Tigers was a slugfest. Legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross would call this game a slobber-knocker. These teams were like two prize fighters slugging it out in the middle of the ring. Suffice it to say that it’s no surprise the game would end in overtime.

Florida State wide receiver Keion Coleman, quiet most of the second half, hauled in the 24-yard go-ahead touchdown that gave the fourth-ranked Seminoles the win. Clemson got the ball back, but a questionable decision on third down forced a fourth down play for the Tigers.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik overthrew receiver Beau Collins, which ended the game.

Klubnik had a fantastic game despite how the game ended. His counterpart, Jordan Travis, hampered by a shoulder sprain, was equally impressive for the Seminoles.

After punting on their first possession, Clemson scored three consecutive times. Florida State punted twice before breaking through for their first score. Clemson took a 17-14 lead in the locker room.

It became apparent that the game would come down to the quarterbacks — the Seminoles and Tigers combined for a meager 56 rushing yards in the first half. Clemson would find their running game some in the second half, rushing for 146 yards. Those yards were aided by a 46-yard run by running back Phil Mafah.

Here are offensive and defensive takeaways and what’s next for both teams.
