ACC football power rankings: Florida asserts dominance in Week 4
By Dante Pryor
3. No. 15 North Carolina (4-0, 1-0)
The Tar Heels are entering the meat and potatoes of its conference schedule. They avoid Florida State in the regular season but play Clemson and interstate rival Duke. Drake Maye looks like he has an argument to be the first quarterback off the board in 2024.
The defense is still a concern, and they will get tested when they play No. 18 Miami on Oct. 14. Their focus is Syracuse right after their off week.
2. No. 17 Duke (4-0, 1-0)
After putting away UConn last week, the Blue Devils get No. 11 Notre Dame coming off a heartbreaking home loss to Ohio State. The Irish had better be focused because the Wallace-Wade Wackos will be in full force for the visiting Irish.
Seriously, this is a good football team. Riley Leonard is right there with Drake Maye and Jordan Travis as one of the best quarterbacks in the ACC. Mike Elko has the defense playing outstanding football. If the Irish come to Durham sluggish, they could lose.
1. No. 4 Florida State (4-0, 1-0)
The Seminoles proved its opening weekend win against LSU was no fluke with its 31-24 overtime victory over rival Clemson. The Tigers came ready to play, but the Seminoles did not quit in this one. That is a massive cultural shift. The ‘Noles would have folded in the past.
Quarterback Jordan Travis played well, as did the Seminoles defense. The ‘Noles are here to stay, and the rest of college football had better take notice.
