Anyone else feel like this year’s Heisman Trophy winner will 100 percent be a quarterback? I get that this is usually a quarterback award, but we’ve seen receivers and running backs win the award over the years. However, this year is a very quarterback-heavy field.

I mean, there are guys like Audric Estime, Rome Odunze, Malik Nabers, and Marvin Harrison Jr. who could make a push for the award, but I’d be shocked if the winner was not a quarterback.

With that in mind, who are the top five candidates for the Heisman Trophy after Week 4?

Also considered: Jordan Travis, Sam Hartman, Shedeur Sanders, Jayden Daniels, Dillon Gabriel

A new addition to the Heisman Trophy watch list this week, Bo Nix stepped up and dominated against Colorado at home, putting up 276 yards and three touchdowns, but he did throw his first pick of the season. That isn’t a big deal, however, as he’s been as consistent as can be through the first four games and his completion rate is astounding.

In fact, his 79.4% completion rate is good for No. 1 in the country by quarterbacks who have more than 100 passing attempts. It’s No. 2 in the nation for quarterbacks who have started each game.

On top of that, Nix is averaging a career-best 8.9 yards per attempt and he’s on pace to put up career-highs for passing yards, completions, and touchdowns. And he only has one pick.

If Nix continues to impress through Pac-12 play, I can see him getting an invite to New York in December. There may not be a more improved player in college football over the past two seasons. Auburn fans have to be sick about this development.
