College Football Predictions: Picks for Top games of Week 5

There aren’t as many marquee games this week but here are our college football predictions for the top games of Week 5. 

Ohio State stole the show in Week 4 of the 2023 college football season, at least Ryan Day did with his shoutout of Lou Holtz after the Buckeyes come-from-behind win.

Oregon also made a statement, while Alabama reminded everyone that their death certificate isn’t ready to be signed quite yet, at least in the SEC West.

More challenges loom in Week 5. Notre Dame football has a pivotal game at Duke. The Irish blew a major opportunity. They have to win out and make the College Football Playoff and even that might not be enough.

Duke gets a chance to make a statement, plus a slew of top-five teams (Georgia, Michigan, USC, Washington, and Oregon) are on the road.

No. 10 Utah at No. 19 Oregon State (-4.5) (Friday, 9 PM EST, Fox Sports 1)

This is one of the most interesting matchups of the week. Utah beat UCLA at home last week, once again without Cam Rising and we’ll see if this week is finally the week he makes his debut. Oregon State lost a tough game on the road. The defense let down a little bit.

DJ Uiagalelei looked like the same dude that drove Clemson fans crazy last season, passing for 198 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He completed 50 percent of his passes, as well as rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown. But even if Rising doesn’t play, I’m taking Utah to win this season behind a stellar defense and a few big plays from Nate Johnson and the offense.
