College Football Predictions: Picks for Top games of Week 5
No. 11 Notre Dame football (-5.5) at No. 17 Duke (7:30 PM EST, NBC)
There is plenty of focus on the quarterbacks for this matchup between Notre Dame football and Duke. Sam Hartman threw for under 200 yards last week and Notre Dame only managed 16 points in the loss against Ohio State.
Duke has Riley Leonard and this Blue Devils team has been humming. Duke is 4-0 and rolled over Clemson during the first week of the season. Mike Elko has done a spectacular job for the Blue Devils, and this is the chance for Duke to announce itself on the national stage this season.
However, Audric Estime is going to take this game over. Hartman will have a solid night and he’ll look much more like he did during the first three weeks of the season.
Duke has the No. 8 scoring defense and 16th in yards allowed. But Estime is a dominant back and Notre Dame football has an elite running game. That will be the difference.
The Irish will bounce back from their heartbreaker a week ago and get back on track.
