Another game is in the books for Arkansas football and Sam Pittman’s seat may just be getting warm.

I never thought I’d be saying this, especially since Pittman has helped turn the program around after the nightmare that was the Chad Morris era but the Razorbacks have seemingly taken two steps back this season after setting major goals for themselves during the offseason.

Last season was already a step back as the Razorbacks finished 7-6 and barely snuck into a bowl game. This season is already off to a rough start as Arkansas dropped a shocking game to BYU in a couple of weeks ago and then a comeback effort fell short against LSU last weekend.

On Saturday, the Razorbacks lost their third game of the season as Arkansas seemingly didn’t stand a chance against Texas A&M.

It’s wild that the worst game that they’ve played over the past three weeks was at a neutral site, and not in Baton Rouge. That seems like a poor coaching job.

How hot is Sam Pittman’s seat with Arkansas football?

Over the past season and a half, Arkansas is just 9-9. While that doesn’t tell the full story of Pittman’s tenure at Arkansas, going 9-4 in his first non-COVID season with the Razorbacks.

Pittman has seen plenty of success and while he’s struggled a bit over the last two seasons, I think that if he can turn things around and get into a bowl game, he can avoid any hot seat talk. If his Razorbacks continue to struggle and miss the postseason, well, I think he may have one more year in him to prove himself.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Pittman. I think he’s a really good coach and he’s done a good job at Arkansas, but you can’t be 2-3 on the year with a veteran team led by KJ Jefferson and Rocket Sanders.
