Following the second full week of Big Ten football games, here are the revised Big Ten football power rankings after Week 5.

Just about every Big Ten football team has two conference games under its belt outside of Wisconsin and Ohio State.

The schedule is somewhat unbalanced. Some teams have even played three league games already. Regardless of the schedule, the cream is already rising to the top and most of the team is in the Big Ten football East Division.

Flat out, the West has been terrible. Wisconsin’s only loss was on the road against a pretty good Washington State team, while Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska have all disappointed. Purdue looked really good last Saturday but the Boilers already have three losses.

Wisconsin is the only Big Ten West team without a conference loss. The Badgers have only played one league game, so there’s a long way to go in that division. Maryland, despite not being ranked, is 5-0 and has won every game by at least 17 points.

We don’t have many marquee matchups this week in Big Ten football. But Week 6 does feature Ohio State against Maryland, as well as Michigan against Minnesota.

Here are the updated Big Ten football power rankings going into Week 6.

14. Indiana (2-3, 0-2)

The Hoosiers have struggled this season and were blown out by Maryland last week 44-17. The Hoosiers barely beat Akron. The only other win was against Indiana State.

Maybe the best thing you can say about this season was that Indiana lost 23-3 to Ohio State. Outside of that, there hasn’t been much to be optimistic about for Hoosier fans.

13. Michigan State (2-3, 0-2)

Mel Tucker was officially fired last week but the Spartans have been terrible on the field. The loss to Iowa by 10 points was their closest defeat against Power-5 opponents. Michigan State’s three losses came by an average of 22 points and there isn’t much to get excited about.
