3 reasons the Texas Longhorns will win the Red River Rivalry
Texas football is back
This may be painful for you to read if you are not a fan of the Texas Longhorns, but they are legitimate this year, and it is very evident with each game they have played. Their defense is top-notch, and you can clearly see their depth at each skill position. Their speed from sideline to sideline prevents the perimeter pass game from opposing offenses from getting going.
The defensive approach for Oklahoma is all go all the time; you leave yourself open to weaknesses if you go that route. If Quinn Ewers is poised in the pocket, he will see what blitz packages youâre in, then he will be able to expose them, and big things will happen. Oklahoma canât withstand this type of quarterback pressure all game without being exposed in the secondary.
On the flip side, If Texas and Quinn Ewers cannot diagnose the overly aggressive early in the snap counts, the Sooners will terrorize him all day. There will be turnovers, there will be negative plays, and Texas will be coming from behind the entire game. Oklahoma has been good through five weeks, but their competition hasnât been top-notch.
Saturdayâs winner will rightly be considered the new conference favorite and a legitimate CFP contender. In other words, the stakes are high, as they always are, in this heated rivalry game.
Texas can win the Big 12 after this game, as the schedule gets pretty soft. There are no other ranked opponents on their schedule. The only other team that should cause worry would be reigning Big 12 Champion Kansas State. The Longhorns and Sooners are the conferenceâs only ranked teams right now.
If the Texas Longhorns can keep this train rolling and beat the Sooners on Saturday, itâs very much on the docket that they could win the Big 12, make the CFP, and play for and even possibly win the national championship.
