Kansas State Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Big 12 rival Oklahoma State in Week 6
After spending this last weekend away from the football field, Kansas State looks to return to the gridiron on a rare Friday contest against Oklahoma State. K-State will try and build on their win against UCF when they had a dominant offensive performance, led by sophomore running back DJ Giddens, who amassed 207 rushing yards on 30 carries and reached pay dirt four times, along with eight receptions for 86 yards. He was an absolute problem on that night.
Hobbled by injuries, one of the goals of Kansas State football should have been to get healthy. They had multiple injuries on both sides of the ball, and even the quarterback, Will Howard, was limited in what he could do in their last contest against UCF.
By looking at the depth chart that was released Monday, K-State (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) should be as close to full strength as they have been all year while they head to Stillwater on Friday to face off in a showdown between two conference rivals at 6:30 PM at Boone Pickens Stadium.
Oklahoma State football (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) is looking to bounce back after their back-to-back losses to both South Alabama (33-7) and Iowa State (34-27). To say that the start of the campaign has been abysmal for the Cowboys would be an understatement.
Statistically speaking, they are borderline awful. Out of 133 FBS teams, the Cowboys are 102nd in yards per game (327.0), 106th in rushing yards per game (121.8), 86th in passing yards per game (205.2), and 103rd in points per game (22.0)
Never has a college team ever won games consistently when you have a carousel of quarterbacks. Well, that is precisely what you have with Oklahoma State football. It is a revolving door of quarterbacks between Alan Bowman, Gunnar Gundy, and Garret Rangel, with no end in sight.
Now, Let’s get bold!
3. Kansas State football will win in dominant fashion
Oklahoma State football has been abysmal this year through four games. The Cowboys are arguably one of the worst teams in the Big 12, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Offensively, they have a carousel of quarterbacks, and they might have settled on one in Alan Bowman. Their offense is still putrid at best, and to think that the Cowboys will miraculously find their offense against Kansas State football, a top-30 defensive team, is a pipe dream.
The Cowboys’ defense, on the other hand, is average at best. That will be their demise against Kansas State, as their offense is running like a finely-tuned machine after beating UCF a few weeks ago.
With just four wins in their last 12 games dating back to the 48-0 drubbing K-State handed them last October. The time to get on track is running out. The Cowboys need depth, and they need talent to compete with K-State. Expect another thrashing on Friday night this year, and Kansas State will get back into the Top 25.
