1. Louisville is simply overrated

Yes, the ‘Ville is 5-0, currently unbeaten, and actually boasts a better record than that of Notre Dame. However, all wins, and losses, aren’t equal, which is why Notre Dame is No. 10 and Louisville is No. 25. Simply put, the Cardinals have struggled against some mediocre teams thus far, such as: (2-3) Indiana, (2-3) Georgia Tech, and (3-2) NC State. All of these fixtures ended in one-score wins.

In addition, when comparing the NC State wins between Notre Dame and Louisville, it’s not even close. Louisville produced a 13-10 comeback victory over the Wolfpack. Meanwhile, the Irish dismantled NC State 45-24.

Lastly, I firmly believe that the pollsters were influenced by the prime time slot already assigned to this game prior to the Week 6 AP and Coaches Poll votes. In turn, the ‘Ville was likely slotted a bit higher than where the Cardinals deserve to be in an attempt to bolster intrigue around Saturday night’s main event on ABC.

Let’s face it, being able to market this game as a matchup between two Top 25 foes is more glamorous than just another Notre Dame vs. ACC game, especially considering just how overpowering the Irish are when playing teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference. According to ESPN, with the win over Duke last weekend, Notre Dame broke the late great Bobby Bowden’s Florida State record for consecutive wins versus the ACC in regular-season tilts with 30 straight victories.

Needless to say,  the lady has already sung for the bluegrass institution.
