College Football Rankings 2023: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 7
After a nice 5-0 start to the season, Michael Penix Jr. and Washington got their bye in Week 6. The Huskies are getting an extra week of preparation for a rivalry game and what might be their toughest test of the season as No. 8 Oregon comes to town in Week 7.
For a lot of teams, byes can come at the right time because focus may be lost and it’s a good chance to reset and come back refreshed. Washington, on the other hand, has been red-hot so maybe this bye wasn’t the best thing for the Huskies.
Washington did just escape Arizona with a seven-point win last week, so this bye may actually help clean some things up, but the Huskies are first in college football in passing yards, fifth in points per game, and the defense has stepped up to sit at No. 30 in points allowed per game.
Penix is right up there as a legitimate Heisman candidate with 1,999 yards and 16 touchdowns through five games which is just unheard of.
I can’t wait for Oregon vs. Washington next week.
