The battle of the Tigers took place on Saturday afternoon in Columbia, Mo., as LSU football hit the road to take on a surprising Missouri team.
And, well, it didn’t get off to a good start for Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers.
In fact, Missouri raced out to a 22-7 lead before LSU chipped away to make it 22-17. Missouri went into the locker room at halftime with a 25-17 lead and while it’s just a one-score deficit, fans are not happy with the product that second-year head coach Brian Kelly is putting on the field.
Sitting at 3-2 on the season, a loss at Missouri would not only eliminate LSU from the College Football Playoff race but also likely the SEC title race. It would be a disaster, especially considering the preseason expectations that LSU had.
Fans took to social media to voice their displeasure with the LSU head coach. And it wasn’t pretty.
LSU football Twitter is furious with Brian Kelly
To say that fans and members of the media are incensed at the first-half performance and preparation of LSU would be an understatement. We have fans calling for buyouts already.
Absolutely embarrassing and it starts at the top all the way down

I love that Brian Kelly’s plan to fix the LSU defense was pull this dude out of his nursing home. pic.twitter.com/KAoTG6tdyF

Brian Kelly has officially ruined LSU Football. They’ve never been this bad on defense in my lifetime. It’s almost impossible what they’ve done with all the talent in Louisiana.

Brian Kelly should be fired if Matt House is still on staff after this season. Fucking done. Embarrassing this university

It’s pretty clear that LSU football fans have sky-high expectations, and why wouldn’t they? Almost every head coach has won a national title in Baton Rouge from Nick Saban to Les Miles to Ed Orgeron, so for Kelly to be struggling this much despite being a splash hire is more than just mildly disappointing.
If LSU loses to Missouri on Saturday, we may see a fan revolt.
