The Kentucky Wildcats were out to prove in this SEC contest against Georgia Bulldogs that they are a real threat to the College Football Playoff. There are a lot of naysayers that they are trying to prove wrong. As a team that could be deemed a threat for a National Championship, Kentucky has never been in the conversation.

Their schedule has yet to help in Kentucky, trying to prove that they are a legitimate threat, having played the likes of Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Akron, Vanderbilt, and Florida. The Kentucky schedule gives you no confidence that they have been battle-tested this year, which they must be to get past Georgia.

During the week, the national narrative from sports media outlets has been that No. 1 ranked Georgia (5-0) is overrated and was on upset alert against No. 20 ranked Kentucky (5-0), who has recently set the world on fire after their win vs. Florida last weekend. That lit a fire under the Bulldogs coming into this game, who were looking for their 23rd straight win.

Kentucky’s last win against Georgia was in 2009; they have lost the previous 13 games.

3. The Georgia Bulldogs offense is back on track

The Georgia Bulldogs offense has been sputtering lately, doing just enough to pull out wins, which was raising many red flags. Many experts were also beginning to wonder if their time as the No. 1 team in the nation was going to come to an end. On this night, they left all of those questions answered.

Georgia exploded on offense against Kentucky; after a dominant first half with 384 total yards, they led 34-7. Coming out of the half, the Wildcats made some adjustments and got an interception off of Carson Beck as a result, but the lead that the Bulldogs created was going to be too much to overcome.

The Kentucky Wildcats should have put themselves in a manageable defensive position to have an effect in this contest. That was basically the name of the game for tonight’s contest. By the time the fourth quarter started, Georgia had pulled Carson Beck because of their massive 44-13 lead over the Kentucky Wildcats. The Bulldogs came alive tonight with 608 yards of total offense; the Wildcats got embarrassed defensively on every level of their defense and will need to return to the drawing board.
