Big 12 Football Power Rankings After Week 6
By Erika Brown
13. Houston Cougars (2-3, 0-2 conference)
Houston had a bye week, but somehow still found a way to lose. The Cougars’ two wins on the season have come against UTSA in a close one and Sam Houston in a blowout. Their game against Texas Tech exposed the defense, which has given up more than 35 points in their last four games. They have a tough matchup this week on Thursday night against West Virginia.
12. Cincinnati Bearcats (2-3, 0-2 conference)
Cincinnati had their bye week this week, which was something they needed. While they handily won their first game against Eastern Kentucky, they have struggled since then, their worst loss coming to Miami Ohio in week 3. The newcomers have a lot of ground to gain, and they don’t have a favorable schedule.
11. Baylor Bears (2-4, 1-2 conference)
One of the more disappointing Big 12 football teams, Baylor has struggled on offense. They lost at home to Texas Tech and had a total of 17 rushing yards in the entire game. Their schedule coming up could see a turnaround for the Bears, with Cincinnati and Iowa State to end October.
10. TCU Horned Frogs (3-3, 1-2 conference)
Another disappointing team in the Big 12, especially after making it to the College Football Playoffs. But this TCU team is quite different from last year. They were making strides with a new quarterback in Chandler Morris until he went down to injury. Hopefully, the Frogs can get back on track with a new QB and a home game against BYU.
