9. Florida Gators 4-2 Overall (2-1 SEC): Coming off of an embarrassing loss to the Kentucky Wildcat a week prior, in which they got manhandled in every possible way, they needed a win in the worst way. Enter the worst SEC football team in Vanderbilt. The Gators again showed how formidable a team they can be at home in the Swamp as they trounced the Commodores with a highly efficient, well-balanced offensive attack. Florida remains in decent shape to finish second in the SEC East, but they need to show more consistency from week to week.

8. Missouri Tigers 5-1 Overall (1-1 SEC): At this point of the year, last season, Mizzou was 2-4; this year, they are 5-1. The trajectory of this program is headed in the right direction. They came up short last game against the LSU Tigers, but do not sleep on this team by any means. Missouri travels to Lexington in a battle of 5-1 teams looking to stay in the SEC race and become bowl-eligible.

7. #24 Kentucky Wildcats 5-1 Overall (2-1 SEC): The good times did not roll, as they came to a screeching halt as the Wildcats came back down to earth after a devastating defeat to the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs 51-13. Still, at 5-1, Kentucky is in a position to have an outstanding season. Mark Stoops and Company will now face a team coming off their first loss and looking to bounce back when they face Kentucky at Kroger Field.

6. Tennessee Volunteers 4-1 Overall (1-1 SEC): The idle week couldn’t have come at a better time, as the Vols’ schedule is about to go full throttle, and their season will be decided in the next three weeks. The Vols are preparing to host Texas A&M this week. The following week, they head to Alabama for the ‘Third Saturday’ in October matchup and another road trip to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. This three-week stretch will make or break the Vols’ season. Josh Heupel’s team will need to show up in these games and prove they are up to snuff, unlike when they flopped against Florida.

5. Texas A&M Aggies 4-2 Overall (2-1 SEC): The Aggies self-destructed Saturday night against the Crimson Tide, being outscored 16-3. They could not hold Alabama and their passing game in check and again got their defense exposed by an opposing quarterback. A&M’s secondary is their Achilles’ heel, and until this gets fixed, it will be another long game when they travel to Knoxville to take on a rested Volunteers team who are exceptional in the passing game.
