The Oregon football team faces its toughest test of the 2023 college football season when they travel to Seattle to take on the flourishing Huskies October 14 at 3:30 PM ET on ABC.

These are not just two of the top teams in the Pac-12, but two of the best teams in college football this season. Both have much at stake in this matchup, as No. 8 Oregon and No. 7 Washington are undefeated and currently sitting near the top of an absolutely stacked conference— seven of the league’s 12 teams are all currently ranked in the top 25.

Trophies at stake for Oregon football against 115th meeting vs Huskies

The winner of this game will take a major step forward in securing a spot to compete for what will likely be the final Pac-12 championship, a chance to compete for a national championship in the College Football Playoff, and a Heisman trophy for QB Bo Nix.

A win against Washington will go a long way in preserving those goals, both team and personal.

Oregon (5-0) is coming off a decisive 42-6 win at Stanford, while Washington (5-0) escaped Tucson with a 31-24 victory against the Arizona Wildcats— both coming two weeks ago.

Never mind that the Ducks have won 15 of the last 18 matchups against the Huskies, this game has a chance to be one of the most exciting in the history of this annual rivalry.

The Ducks have been one of the most exciting teams to watch in college football this season. They’re one of only two teams averaging more than 50 points per game this season (fellow Pac-12 member USC being the other) thanks, in large to continued and sustained dynamic play from quarterback Bo Nix.

Nix has kept his name in Heisman talks all season long and his resume tells you why. The Alabama native has thrown for 1,459 yards and 15 touchdowns in just five games, while chipping in 87 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

But Nix and the Ducks absolutely have their work cut out for them this week. Washington QB (and fellow Heisman hopeful) Michael Penix Jr. has been virtually unstoppable this season. The Tampa native has 1,999 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. His elite offensive line has given up just three sacks all season long, enabling Penix ample time to get the ball to his playmakers.

Will the Ducks be the ones to finally slow the left-handed gunslinger? Let’s dive into some predictions for this battle between two of the best teams in college football this season.
