1. Notre Dame upsets USC, wins back the Jeweled Shillelagh

As aforementioned, the Fighting Irish have struggled massively the past few weeks. First was the valiantly impressive, but soul-sucking loss against a nation’s elite in Ohio State. Then came the two putrid performances against Duke and Louisville. In the end, the squad finished 1-2 during this three game span versus ranked opposition.

As such, Notre Dame is no longer College Football Playoff contenders as they now sit on the edge of the top 25, ironically snuggled up with Brian Kelly’s underperforming LSU Tigers.

It seems that if Notre Dame is to salvage anything from this season, such as a New Year’s Six bowl game, then the Gold and Blue must win this weekend, as well as the team’s other remaining four games. This week, we’ll get to see the true spirit of this squad put to the test.

Is this group motivated to beat its arch rival and try to get to 10 wins? Or, will Notre Dame be a no-show under the lights once more, appearing already checked out for the season?

I believe that this team is led by a strong veteran core of student-athletes, namely Sam Hartman, Audric Estime, Joe Alt, Howard Cross, Jack Kiser, J.D. Bertrand, and D.J. Brown to name a few on both sides of the ball. As a result, Our Lady’s sons will rally towards victory under the backdrop of Touchdown Jesus, and keep the hopes for a NY6 bowl berth a live this Saturday night.
