It was Homecoming in Tuscaloosa, and Alabama football got all the drama money could buy. The Crimson Tide got out to a 21-6 halftime lead and held on for the 24-21 victory. Alabama football’s offense took some time to get going, with Arkansas jumping out to a 6-0 lead from two field goals from kicker Cam Little.

The Crimson Tide’s offense scored with a bang. Quarterback Jalen Milroe connected with receiver Kobe Prentice on a 79-yard touchdown pass. Big plays were a big part of the story for the Crimson Tide in the first half. Milroe’s first three receptions went for 79, 44, and 25 yards.

The second half was a bit of a different story. Milroe missed some throws, and Arkansas loaded the box to slow the run. “We have to learn how to play for sixty minutes and finish the game,” head coach Nick Saban told Tom Luginbillafterwarde.

Alabama’s inability to move the football gave Arkansas the ball in plus territory for much of the second half. Razorbacks’ quarterback KJ Jefferson took advantage of that on two drives in the second half.

Credit the Crimson Tide offense on the final drive of the game. The offensive line bowed up and got first downs to ice the game and not put the game on the defense.

The win keeps Alabama in contention for the SEC West.

Here are three takeaways from today’s game.
