Big 12 Football Power Rankings After Week 7
By Erika Brown
9. BYU (4-2, 1-2 conference)
BYU felt like a promising team just a couple of weeks ago with their win against a non-conference team in Arkansas. They’ve dropped games against Kansas and now a big one against TCU, who hasn’t exactly been a juggernaut in the conference. But BYU will have to figure out their offense after scoring just 11 points against TCU. They take on Texas Tech at home this week.
8. TCU (4-3, 2-2 conference)
TCU finally looked like the TCU of old. They put up 44 points this week against BYU. TCU quarterback Josh Hoover threw for 439 yards and four touchdowns in the best game of his short career so far. The redshirt freshman looked impressive. Hopefully, TCU can continue the offensive drive this week against a good Kansas State team in Manhattan.
7. West Virginia (4-2, 2-1 conference)
West Virginia looked poised to win on Thursday night. All the Mountaineers had to do was stop an improbable Hail Mary with just a few seconds left on the clock in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, it did not swing their way, and were handed their first Big 12 football loss of the season. Their offense looked competent though, which they will need when they face Oklahoma State at home this week.
