Here are our college football predictions for Week 8 of the 2023 season which features some marquee matchups.

There are four top-25 matchups in Week 8 of the 2023 college football season and a number of teams will put their College Football Playoff hopes on the line.

USC will be looking to rebound from a bad loss against Notre Dame with a win against Utah, a team that defeated the Trojans twice last season, including in the Pac-12 title game.

Florida State gets another test against up-and-coming Duke, while the games between Alabama and Tennessee, as well as Ohio State and Penn State, highlight the Week 8 college football schedule, and here are predictions for each top-25 game this week, plus an upset special.

No. 7 Penn State at No. 3 Ohio State (-4.5) Fox Sports, 12 PM EST

This is one of the games of the year in the Big Ten conference. What’s interesting is that both teams have quarterbacks with something to prove.

Kyle McCord has been getting better. He also had some clutch moments in the game-winning drive at Notre Dame. He also stepped up when needed against Maryland.

The Buckeyes have to get Marvin Harrison Jr. more involved. The receiving group is banged up though and Penn State’s defense is really good. Drew Allar is a former five-star quarterback and the Penn State running back duo led by Nicholas Singleton is elite.

Kaytron Allen actually has 4.8 yards per attempt but either way, Penn State is leading the Big Ten in rushing yards. Can the Nittany Lions do what Michigan has done the past two years?

If the game was in Happy Valley, I’d give them the edge. Instead, I’ll stick with the Buckeyes, but it’s going to be close.

Score: Ohio State 23, Penn State 20
