College Football Rankings 2023: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 9
For a while, it looked like we were going to see Duke pull off the upset of Florida State on the road, but a fourth-quarter lead immediately vanished. Not having Riley Leonard clearly hurts but this team completely folded in the fourth quarter.
A candidate for most boring game of the week took place at noon on Saturday as Air Force went to Navy and put everyone to sleep with a 17-6 win. No one should’ve been shocked by the score since this is a service academy game with basically no passing but the highlight of the game was a 94-yard touchdown pass. Air Force remains unbeaten.
Louisville was undefeated to begin the Jeff Brohm era but clearly things were going a little too well as they stumbled at Pitt in Week 7. The Cardinals got a bye in Week 8 to regroup and correct some mistakes and we’ll see what this team is really made of when it hosts Duke next week.
Missouri hosted a sneaky South Carolina team in Week 8 and was able to come away with a convincing 34-12 win. I’m surprised to say, but this Tiger team seems to be for real and they’re only one comeback loss against LSU away from being 8-0 on the season and in serious SEC title contention.
Army came to LSU and things got ugly in a hurry. The Tigers were up 38-0 at halftime and just cruised to a big win in this non-conference matchup. Jayden Daniels stays in the Heisman race with yet another sparkling performance and he’s earning that invite to New York.
