College Football Week 9 loser: Big 12 playoff hopes

The Big 12 lost in a couple of ways, at least if the league wants a playoff team. Before the Oklahoma loss, each Power-5 league had at least one undefeated team. Now, the Big 12 is the only one that doesn’t.

Therefore, if Washington wins out, each league would get a berth — Michigan or Ohio State, Georgia, Florida State, and Washington — assuming no upsets.

Oklahoma would have been in that conversation and in my opinion, would have gotten the nod over Washington. Now, the Sooners and Horns need help. They each need to win out to make sure they reach the Big 12 title game with a loss.

Playing each other with one loss is the best-case scenario for their College Football Playoff hopes but make no mistake, they each need some help now.
