Jason Bean had an electrifying touchdown run that has Kansas football in a position to upset Oklahoma on Saturday in Lawrence.

It’s been fun to watch Lance Leipold build the Kansas football program into something that Jayhawks fans can be proud of.

However, if Kansas football can knock off Oklahoma on Saturday, it would be the most significant win yet for the Jayhawks who won six games a season ago.

Kansas opened the game on fire, building a 14-0 lead. Oklahoma had cut the deficit to 14-7 when a weather delay caused the game to be stopped for a while.

The Sooners flew out of the gates and took the lead for the first time on a Dillon Gabriel touchdown run. However, the Jayhawks refused to go away and scored two field goals to trim the lead to 21-20.

That’s when Oklahoma turned the ball over in the third quarter, giving Kansas football great field position and a chance to take the lead.

Normal starting quarterback Jalon Daniels isn’t playing for Kansas football. But Jason Bean is and the backup turned starter rumbled 38 yards for a touchdown.

That got the crowd back into the game and it seemed to be just as hyped as when the Jayhawks opened the game with a pick-six in the first quarter that helped KU grab the lead.

The sixth-ranked Sooners nearly went to overtime last week at home against UCF, so it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Kansas is giving them a challenge. We’ll see if the Jayhawks can finish though as OU re-claimed the lead on the next possession.

At the very least, Kansas has put Oklahoma on upset alert.
