One of the things we love about college football Saturday is rivalry matchups. For this weekend, it’s Oklahoma State and Oklahoma football. These two teams have faced each other many times throughout their history. Oklahoma always has the upper hand in this matchup.

The Sooners will continue their dominance if they stay focused and disciplined.

Here are reasons why the Sooners will come out victorious against Oklahoma State.

1. Dillon Gabriel will do what he does best

The Sooners’ quarterback is trustworthy and a gamer. Ever since his performance against the Texas Longhorns, we know how dangerous he can be when the bright lights are on. The Sooners are coming off a loss against Kansas last weekend, but Gabriel completed 14 of his 19 attempts for 171 yards. He did have one costly turnover but he will make amends in this game. Gabriel is due for a big game this weekend.

2. Sooners defense will come through during crunch time

The Sooners and Cowboys will have a close game. I can’t see this being a blowout whatsoever. College football has taught us that on any given Saturday anyone can be beaten. You can’t take any teams lightly. The game will come down to who will make the final stop and the Sooners will be the team to make the clutch defensive plays late in the game.

3. Jalil Farooq’s 100-yard reception game

Wide receiver Jalil Farooq has been quiet in the last two games. He’s combined for 34 yards and no touchdowns. He hasn’t scored a touchdown since Sept. 16. However, this is a rivalry game. Therefore, it will add some fuel to his fire. Farooq played well against the Texas Longhorns. I believe he will match that same intensity and will finally score some touchdowns. The Sooners will need him to get going.

Oklahoma leads the series 91-19-7. The Sooners and Cowboys will meet one last time since Oklahoma will leave the Big 12 for the SEC after this season. Things won’t be the same after this season. These two teams have been going at it since 1904.

My prediction is Oklahoma will win 40-34. In their last meeting, Oklahoma won 28-13. The game will take place this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Boone Pickens Stadium.
