Louisville football: 3 takeaways from nail-biting win over Virginia
1. Jeff Brohm has to be the ACC Coach of the Year
When Jeff Brohm left Purdue after leading the Boilermakers to the Big Ten title game, everyone thought he was crazy. Sure, Louisville was his alma mater, but leaving a program that just won its division in a major conference like the Big Ten for a program that had been struggling a bit for years under Scott Satterfield seemed ill-advised.
But he clearly made the right decision.
Purdue is struggling this year under a new head coach and Brohm has now led Louisville to a 9-1 record and the Cardinals may very well be playing for the ACC title in a few weeks.
No one could have pictured this type of turnaround at Louisville, especially not this quickly, but the Cardinals are having their best season in years and Brohm is to thank.
The culture has changed and the fit is right. After securing a tough win over Virginia, it just feels like Brohm is a lock to take home the conference’s coach of the year award.
