Penn State football: 3 reasons the Nittany Lions will upset Michigan

All eyes will be on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff showcase between No. 10 Penn State football versus No. 3 Michigan. The subplots for this fixture are endless, and some are obvious — ahem, the Michigan sign-stealing scandal — as well as a clash of Big Ten titans jostling for position in the talent enriched Big Ten East.

According to betMGM, Michigan is favored by -4.5 points (a number that’s been shrinking since the start of the season), however, I believe that Penn State is primed for an upset.

Therefore, here are three reasons why the Nittany Lions will takedown the self-proclaimed Leaders and Best, Michigan.

3. White Out in Happy Valley

For those meteorologists out there, you’re familiar with the traditional sense of the term ‘white out’. For those who are not, according to The Weather Channel, a ‘white out’ is a full scaled scene of one’s surroundings being completely obstructed due to white blowing snow, both on the ground and in the sky.

Due to the lack of visibility, chaos usually ensues typically on roadways. As a result, 100-plus car pileups can occur on said motorways. However, in the case of Saturday afternoon’s heavyweight bout, it’ll be roughly 100-plus Wolverines getting rolled over, thanks to what will be treacherous ‘White Out’ conditions inside Beaver Stadium in Happy Valley.

Now unlike traditional ‘White Out’ games for the Nittany Lions, when kickoff takes place under the lights, the start time tomorrow will commence at noon on FOX thanks to media money having now taken precedence over the sport of college football. But I digress.

Despite the early kick-off, the raucous atmosphere will still be palpable. The visual of seeing 110,000 all white shirted fans waving white pom poms, jumping up and down, and singing in unison to Zombie Nation’s Kernkraft 400, will provide goosebumps for all ages. It’s a scene that makes you fall in love with the sport— with the pageantry, and gets you fired up for the occasion.  In turn, the Nittany Lions will put in a white hot performance, whilst favorites Michigan will lose its poise under pressure.
