The sport of college football has always had a knack for zigging when we all think it’s going to zag. There’s a good chance that one of those zigs is going to take place in Orlando on Saturday between Oklahoma State and UCF football.

UCF has had a difficult first season in the Big 12, to say the least. Before their win last week against Cincinnati, the Knights had lost five straight in conference play, and they still enter this week with a losing record and absent a victory over a Big 12 incumbent.

Oklahoma State, meanwhile, is playing about as well as they possibly could. After a difficult 2-2 start, the 15th-ranked Cowboys have won five straight, capped off with a thrilling win over Oklahoma in Bedlam a week ago.

Mike Gundy’s team had had consistency at quarterback, while Gus Malzahn has had to navigate injuries and erratic play at the position. Up and down the stat sheets and roster, the trend continues.

Given all that, what better spot for a major upset? Let’s break down why UCF has a strong shot at pulling out a victory at home on Saturday.
