Reports out of Fayetteville are stating that Arkansas football will be moving on from Sam Pittman with an announcement coming at some point soon.

This isn’t all that surprising given the fact that Arkansas lost 48-10 at home to Auburn in Week 11, dropping to 3-7 and missing out on bowl eligibility after a disappointing 7-6 campaign a year ago. While his tenure at Arkansas started out really good, it fizzled out quickly over the past two seasons.

If the Razorbacks do move on from Pittman, they’ll have options.

Who could the Razorbacks target to potentially replace Pittman?

5. Kendal Briles, TCU offensive coordinator

This one should be talked about quite a bit in terms of replacements for Sam Pittman as Kendal Briles was actually his offensive coordinator at Arkansas from 2020-22. He was a major reason for the offensive turnaround right away and he helped turn Feleipe Franks’ college career around before turning KJ Jefferson into one of the SEC’s best.

Without Briles this season, the offense has been atrocious. Dan Enos was actually in the past month and the Razorbacks’ offense has been a shell of itself with a lot of the same major pieces still intact.

This should be enough proof that Briles could turn this thing around.

Need more proof? Well, after taking over a TCU offense that was losing its star quarterback, the Horned Frogs have the 15th-best total offense in the country, averaging over 450 yards per game. They also have the nation’s No. 13 passing offense. If there’s a problem at TCU, it’s the defense and definitely not the offensive side of the ball.

This would be a great hire, but it might require some time for him to turn it around — a-la Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State.
