Arkansas football: Top 5 head coaching candidates to replace Sam Pittman

3. Jeff Traylor, UTSA head coach

Probably one of the more fitting hires would be UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor and you don’t really have to explain why. But I’ll do it anyway.

Traylor was the Arkansas running backs coach and associate head coach in 2018-19 and then he took the head coaching job at UTSA where he’s had plenty of success since 2020. In his first year with the Roadrunners, he was 7-5 with a bowl berth which is impressive considering he took over a program and then COVID-19 hit.

In year two, he led UTSA to a 12-2 record and then he followed that up with an 11-3 season in 2022. This year, he’s off to a 7-3 start as he has now compiled a 37-13 overall record.

The Roadrunners are 6-0 in the American and looking like favorites to make the conference title game and win the league in their first year as members.

Traylor would be a fantastic hire.
